In the coming years, we will replace, make more sustainable, and renew at Schiphol to improve the infrastructure, working conditions, and service to passengers and airlines. A major project of this task is the reconstruction of the C-pier, the oldest pier at the airport. The existing C-Pier must make way for a newly to be realized pier. The reconstruction of the C-pier will improve and safeguard the continuity and quality of Schiphol for the future. The C-pier will be modularly built at a different construction location at Schiphol airport (off-site), approximately 3 km from the current C-pi

06Frequently asked questions

What is the intended approach for the reconstruction of the C-pier?
The assignment follows a two-phase approach. In Phase 1, the design is further elaborated within a construction team regarding manufacturability, feasibility, costs, planning, and risks. After a successful construction team phase, Phase 2 starts with the actual realization of the new C-pier.
In what way will the construction be carried out to limit operational disruption?
The C-pier will be modularly built at an off-site location, approximately 3 km from the current C-pier. The construction parts (modules) will then be transported to the final location. Through this off-site and modular construction, operational disruption and construction time in the airside part of the airport are limited.
What competencies are expected from the construction team partner?
Interested market parties are expected to have experience in collaborating within a construction team and realizing complex construction projects in an operational environment. Important competencies are the realization of large-scale steel main load-bearing structures and integrated installation technology.
What is the expected size of the new C-pier?
The expected gross floor area (GFA) of the new C-pier will be approximately 26,000 m². The scope of the project also includes the new foundation of the C-pier.
What is the expected schedule for the different phases of the project?
The construction team phase is expected to start in 2026. The actual construction of the modules at the off-site location will begin in 2027.
