In 2019, the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden (VHL) was established through a merger of the former municipalities of Leerdam, Vianen, and Zederik. Currently, the municipal organization and administration are housed in three town halls at the locations Leerdam, Meerkerk, and Vianen. The municipality of VHL has the ambition to house the organization and administration in a single building. During the 2019 period, a scenario study was conducted in which various housing scenarios were investigated. Based on the scenario study, the municipal council chose on 6 October 2021 to implement the scenario
