01What is being requested
The area development includes the construction, raising, and reinforcement of primary flood defenses, improving the system operation of the Maas by adding 85 ha to the riverbed, and improving the ecology of the Wellse Molenbeek.
In the Area Development Groene Rivier Well project, river widening, dike reinforcement, stream restoration, and area design go hand in hand. A new stream valley will be created simultaneously with the river widening. The dikes will be placed in the correct location from a landscape and cultural-historical perspective, and we will make them higher and stronger in an appropriate manner. As a result, villages will be better protected and the Maas will receive more space. Improved flow will be achieved through ground level lowering and the construction of a bridge with a larger span.
